"Hmm I wonder what a good board..." <- my vote would be for something like the [ESP32-C6-DevKitC-1](https://docs.espressif.com/projects/esp-dev-kits/en/latest/esp32c6/esp32-c6-devkitc-1/index.html): it has a built-in debugger (i.e. you don't need to carry one around yourself!), comes with USB-C (i start to hate any device being sold with any other type of USB connector, i'm always digging for cables, adapters, etc.) and has lots of IO options. the fact that espressif is moving towards v1.0 of their HAL and it's the only HAL i'm aware of where the manufacturer is the official maintainer _and super supportive_ is a big plus for me! the only downside is that you don't have access to the USB peripheral (which is the one reason i haven't used it for my current project - because i need `postcard-rpc` and the USB CDC server impl for it is still WIP and i needed something stable & released and didn't have time to help polish that up (sorry!)). in turn i'm now stuck with an RP Pico 1 which forces me to use _another_ pico as a picoprobe and having a bunch of dangling wires during development and not being able to access `defmt` logs once i remove the debugger for production usage 😥
